the mission is awesome and this week was straight up phenomial! i would like to begin today with: the wise man built his house upon the rock, the foolish man built his house upon the sand, and the creative man built his house upon... the water?
WE WENT TO THE FLOATING ISLANDS (UROS)
so this guy (a member) called the church and asked for some help out on his island. but alas we a rules that we are not allowed to go out on the islands. bummer. but somehow we got special permission to go out onto the islands from the president to do this service! what what! so we, on saturday went out to these islands. they are super cool by the way, i cant even really explain them. they are made of tons and tons of dried up reeds and they float on the lake. they can hold buildings and everything. they are like you enter a tropical paradise once you step foot. i took picutres so this description will suffice for me.
anyway so the service... these people have to redo the foundation of their houses (stacked reeds) every two years because they settle and such. so what do we do...? we lifted their entire house and moved it to a different location, and then proceeded to stack new reeds about 4 feet high. and then we lifted the house back over the new foundation. this house was heavy, my goodness. it was super cool though. it took a while but we were able to do it. it was putting it back on the new foundation tht was the hard part! we had to lift it so high. it was awesome though.
i ate some reed also, you peel the outside and eat this super sponge-ish like inside. it has no flavor.
then we had another, bigger, house to lift. but this time we were on the more touristy island and we put logs under it to help with mice and such. this one took forever to do because the back of the house was super close to the edge which appently wasnt very solid ha. a couple elders shot through the "ground" and were about waist deep in the water as they tried to lift the house. but yeah, it was way cool! the tourist were all taking pictures of us as we were lifting the house haha. so yeah,... that was awesome! anyway, monday we had a snowball fight with from crazy hail that came in. so that was super fun. hail snowball are somewhat fierce by the way.
i have continued to do my own laundry this week, im getting pretty good at it i think. they are cleaner than the pension usually does it, so theres that.
one bummer this week, no mulitzone confernece because of some strike in juliaca, whihc means no musical number. it was all ready to go, everyone had their parts, it was sounding good, but then it never happened. so that was a bummer.
we had stake confernce this week though. and it was so awesome. i cant even explain how cool it was. 2 members of the 70 were there, elders solis and uceda. and Uceda was awesome. he is such a powerful speaker and he gave some pretty amazing insights. he called the people alot to repenetance but in such a loving way it was really cool. he talked about how the future of the church in this area is in the members. its in their hands... and it is time soon for there to be a temple closer. what a promise!
we had service in the hospital this week... i have leanred that i am never getting sick in this country... it was so dirty and gross and really scary. i didnt not like the hospital at all. it was like a haunted house kind of deal.
i think in a little more than a week i will have a new comp and be back in my area, so well see how that goes.
anyway, crazy aWESOME stuff here. i may have two baptisms here with these guys before i go back to my sector, so thats cool.
oh! and i ate a fish eye, the whole socket and all. it was wierd, it popped inbetween my teeth.anyway take care!
