well.... im going back to Salcedo, finally back to my own sector for good. im excited to be back in my ward and such and working in my area every day but im also pretty sad to see this trio end! this trio with elder powell and elder becerra was like the coolest time ever. it wa so fun! it appears elder powell has a change to the sacred valley up by cusco and elder beccera will be here still but as distrcit leader and training once again. crazy stuff! so thats what is happening in the future... oh and my new companion will be Elder Fernando Andres Jara, i think he is from lima. but i really dont now anything about him., i think hes from LIma,
Now for this week. this week was awesome. like super awesome, there is so much to say that i dont even know hwo to say it. ill probably just talk about this saturday.
so... to give a discription of the day ill give the spanglish quote of elder beccera, "today was un dia de milagros!" a day of miracles. and my goodness it was. so first we went to salcedo to do some work there. we had to resechulde a ton of appointments there because we had a baptism in their sector for a litle 8 year old girl named Karen. awesome right!? so we went around doing that, then in my sector is Leni who has a date for the 6th to be baptized. so we stopped by his place to remind him of his interview at 11 and awesered questions and such. my goodness this keyboard is terribnle, and really frustrating! ha, annyway.... so after that we had an appointment with yojana, an investigator who is about 20. now this lesson was awesome!
we head over and we have this lesson in here little tienda or store. just in the front. its pretty common because they always have to have someone watcing their store. anyway. so she had been being taught by the sisters before us and had received the pamflets from the plan of salvationa and the gospel of Jesus Christ. lessons 2 and 3. now she is awesome. its not very often that yoiu find people who really want to know the truth for themselves. and she does! she even filled out the questions on the back of the pamflet, like a little quiz and then she wrote questions she had. it was so cool. and so we then had a lesson of really simply awensering questions she had abbout the plan of salvation. so this was going great when this drunk guy came marching in. it wa really interesting, because i knew right as he set foot in the door that it was bad news, before we knew he was drunk... the spirit was instantly gone, the contrast was so drastic. and then than asked us if we believe in God, and of course we say we do to whcih he responded, "yo tampoco" or me neither.... the wouldnt leave for about 15-20 minutes, and he ciontinued to tal about how we are aweful people for coming into his place, his counrty, his Peru, his Puno, and we dont know how to live cause we are white, and Joseph Smith cant be a prophet because he is from a different place and went off about how mormons dont know anything about life and we cant be the true church... and then somethig awesome happend, Yojana, being an investigator DEFENDED our church! she said she has never felt anything bad about our church and that she believes that everyone needs to choose for themselves! and the spirit flooded back in the room and he was silent. and then he left. it was so awesome!
she then had questions about the restoration because she had gotten all this doctrine for lessons before us without the mesage of the restoration. and none of us had the pamflet to leave her (we didnt have time because leni had his interview in like 5 min) and she we wee giving a short description when elder becerra felt impressd to look in his bag again, for the 3rd time. i have no idea how it got in there, i saw in his bag before and there was no pamfelt, but then there was one restoration pamflet. it was the coolest thing. so yeah, leni is prepared for his baptism this saturday as well.
we then had the baptism in Los Incas for Karen which was awesome! elder Powell baptized her. it was really cool to hear her little testimony afterwards. after the baptism we had an appointment at 7, that we were now late too, with Genadyne, a referance from her older sister. so Genadyne... my word, she is so prepared i cant even handle it. she had atened church and then the next week stake confernece, went to the young mens, young womens meeting and after asked for the missionaries. we walk in, its our second lesson, we appologize for being late and then he mom says,"so she wants to be baptized, when can we do that?"like what! she knows a ton already and she has a desire. it is the coolest thing, so she has a date for the 13th. boom!
so yeah, it was one speical day, not to mention it was 4 months. crazy stuff!
so yeah, missions are cool, church is true, and i know it! im so excited to be here. i hope my new comp it awesome, ha!
