first off i want to say that i am a real missionary now... haha im living with these other elders right, my new companions i guess for the rest of this change. well you see i do not have money to pay their laundry person, ive blown a ton of money just being thrown around into different situations because of all the craziness going on. so i finally actually had to wash my clothes by hand in a bucket and a sink. it took a while but when you are out of all underclothing and socks it is worth it. the only problem was being hung inside to dry takes a couple days. but i have clean clothes now! even though i may have to do it again in a day or two. so that was cool!
being with these elders is super fun as well. Elder Powell and i are always jamming out to song, whcih is super fun. we are comtemplating a band after the mission. whcih would be awesome.
we went to Juliaca last week for pday and played some soccor with a ton of elders up there. it was actually super fun. those guys are so good at soccor it is ridiculous! the foot works displayed during soccor is completely beyond my capabilities... nevertheless, i persevered and i even scored a goal. boom. so that was fun.
anyway... the coolest thing ever happened saturday. it was like a straight up miracle kind of day. really like 5. so we had staying in my sector in Salcedo to do some work in my area. its really hard when youre not in the area for a while because you dont have any appointments and its always like, can we meet right now or in like a week? so success isnt really something thats flows in that situation. anyway, eariler we had sacked an appointment with Leni. a 15 year old boy who is the only member of his family who is not a member and yet is the only one who one might think was a member., he attends church every week by himself, goes to all the attivities and everything. yet he always said he doesnt want to be baptized. i couldnt get my mind around it.
anyway, we had an appointment for 5 pm. well we show up to his house right at 5, right when his mom and sister are leaving... and im like well thats unfortunate. i had studied the vocab and the lesson for about a hour and a half and i think said about 5 prayers leading up the the lesson that we will be able to teach him and he will be able to really listen. we talked to her and she informed us he was at the church playng soccor, miracle 1.
so we go to the church and find him. turns out that his father never informed him of the appointment, that was actually supposed to be with the whole family, and he had no idea. but for soe reason he found it expidient to leave the soccor game and actually have a lesson with us! like what!? miracle 2
so we proceeded to teach the gosple of Jesus Christ, and more specificy about following Christ and being baptized. i actually lead the lesson and i was able to speak fluidly and understandably. it was like the coolest thing ever. spanish is hard and it just sort of came. miracle 3
then his best freind, and active member named Jesus, came and joined us for the lesson out on the grass field. he was able to share an awesome testimony of his own baptism and conversvion and how he knows its the right thing to do. it was so cool. thats the power of members being in on lessons. its another witness of what we are teaching and when its from a friend of theirs there is so much more crediblity in the eyes of the investigator. miracle 4
and then we extended the invitation for him to be baptized. and it was the coolest thing ever. his whole countanence changed and you could see it. this 15 year old boy who usually was dead when we talked to him lit up as he accepted the invtacion to be baptized dec 6th. miracle 5. it was the coolest thing ever. he is such a stud.
so yeah, life is great. it was such a testimony builder for me. God answers prayers. and when we do all we can to prepare for what ever it is that we need to do, we just need to put our faith in the Lord and say, ive done all i can, but i need your help here... and he will be there.
he prepared Leni, leni listened and felt the spirit, and we were able to share the things he needed to here. the lord even provided Leni's friend as another witness, just out of the blue.
missions are awesme, i love it
