this week was actually super hard. the whole first part was just a big poop moment.
so we started this week with very few people to teach. two of our investigators who were actaully progressing still had yet to arrive fro arequipa and the other lima. so there is no visots with those two.
our telefono is broken and we cant receive or send phone calls. so it is basically impossilbe to confirm or set appointments during planning every night. which is abummer cause we actually use that a lot. some elders dont like to but i like when appointments dont fall through and when we actually have appointments. im used to making about 15-20 calls every night to set appointments and find member that can go with us,and we no longer have that privilage. anyway,i think up til friday, we had only had 2lessons. and we had contacted so many people without success.so it was a pretty rough week.
so we have been praying and doing everything we could to find new people to teach, cause walking around from house to house doesnt get anything done.
every thursday we have weeking planning. one of the parts is to plan for how you are going to find new investigators. we were planning like normal and such setting goals for how many contacts we are going to have every day and where we can find morefamilies and such. but before we finished i felt like we should look in the area book.
we started going through the papers that are titled future investigators. some, not many, had numbers and even addresses. well we dont have a phone, so we just lookedfor those with addresses. and we noted them.
well later on in the day, our set appointment fell through. we were about to go contacting, when we talked for a sec and determined that we should search for those housesof future investigators. first 3 houses... one was already a member. the second didnt exist, and the other no one lived in that house... we still had around 5 more houses to search out. we had been walkingaround and finding housesfor about an hour now. (im sorry about the spaces deal unbetween words, this space bar is not too great haha). well decided to search out one house of a person named Oscar. i liked it cause it reminded me of Oscar Muños from Texas. and ohmy word did we search. we basically went all over Salcedo looking for this noob! we looked for over an hour just for this house and everyone told us to go in different directions to find it. we almost just decided to move on and say it doesnt exist. but we looked a little longer and we found the house!
after all that looking turns out that Oscar is a noob that doesnt exist or at least doesnt live in that house, and gave the Hermana missionaries an address that wasnt his...
but im super happy that he did.
turns out a girl named Tatiana lives there. she had just got back from lima to see her freind go off for the mission. she and her family are catholic but are troubled because a lot of the beliefs dont agree with the commandments. anyway, she and her family after having attened church in lima about a week ago, wanted to learn more and we actually looking for the church here in Puno!
our first lesson was the next day and it was 3 hours long. because first they fed us, then they told us their whole life story and then they wanted to hear our message. and the hot chocolate they gave us was actually super super super good and i loved it.
Tatiana was able to attend church as well. her mom had a work meeting with her boss that was coming over in the morning and couldnt join her. but next week she wants to go. after church we talked to Tatiana for like 4min and then she asked us when she could be baptized. well she now has a date to be baptized here in April.
the coolest thing ever! an awnser to prayers and a straight up miracle. from our side its a miracle.when you get both sides of the story... i cant even believe it. we were completely guided to that house, straight up.
im so happy i could "bust'a cap!" (thats for aunt ashley)
so yeah this week was good.
my comp and i made amazing pizza creations as we learned how to make the dough and everything. we are freaking pro and it is so good. i even made a dessert pizza roll with strawberry jam and bananas, and it was amazing. dang we're good.
this training thing is the funnest thing ever and we are good freinds and i enjoy that. and i am learning so much as we go at it.
oh also last pday we played basketball as a zone and it was the first time of real basketball. and it was the funnest thing ever. and i havent lost it all yet. i actually hit 7 threes in a row to win in one of the games... so that was super fun hahaha.
and mom i love you lots. youre the best and i thank thee mucho for the jelly beans...oh my word i was in heaven last night as i had received the package for the ZLs.... wow jelly beans are so good and i dont even know why!
lifes good the church is true and i am out of time.
have a great week
